Services

I am a qualified Interior Designer and Landscape Designer, and I am experienced in both domestic and commercial fields of work.

My portfolio and diversity of work encompases both the commercial and residental client, ranging from private resindences, holiday houses, professional offices and restaurants and retail shops. I work closely with the client and your chosen architect or contractor.

I am able to create and develop a quality transition from the living space to the landscape beyond or outdoor living area. This is where lighting is important to create an ambience in the interior and exterior.

Anything that is a "trend" should be treated with caution because it has a finite lifespan. You need something more enduring.

Attention to detail and careful selection of materials and finishes are important, and the combination of colour, light and practical living is an important aspect throughout your interior or outdoor living area.

I am a designer that likes Tuscan, French Provincial and Spanish styles of furniture. I like classic timeless elegance, with a contemporay theme. I like large expanses of glass to brighten, and lighten up an interior to bring the outside inside, and to provide focal points to view the garden from the inside.

STAGES OF THE DESIGN PROCESS

Stage 1 - Hand Concept Plan

A hand drawn sketch plan on the site survey ( garden) is provided showing the basic layout of all the areas of the proposed interior or garden, including any components such as fire places, swimming pools/water features; focal features such as sculptures/pots; or even tennis courts!

These no not include detailed drawings showing joinery details, colour or finishes, planting plans, planting lists or construction details.

Amendments will be made at the next stage.

Stage 2 - Final Concept Plan

After the initial concept presentation and client input and feedback, the final concept plan is drawn onto computer for another meeting. A fee for this stage is submitted. This is the stage when a builder/ joiner/landscape contractor can give a rough budget on the construction cost and budgets can be established.

Stage 3 - Master Plan

A master plan will be drawn on the computer showing precise layouts of joinery units, appliances, hard and soft surfaces, like paved areas, walls, grassed areas, pot/urn locations, water features; any construction specifications, and the proposed layout of any other features. There maybe more than one drawing for this stage.

Stage 4 - Planting Plan

A detailed planting plan showing all areas of the proposed garden, including plant names (common and botanical), the quantity, pot size and plant source. This maybe more than one drawing.

Stage 5 - Construction Details and Elevations

Detailed drawings and elevations for construction purposes will be shown.

Stage 6 - Construction

Upon final completion of the drawings, prices can be obtained from builders/joiners/landscape contractors, and I will carry out site supervision of the works. This service will be a percentage of the contractor’s total fee. Once the contractor is notified, construction and/or demolition will begin. The Client pays the contractor directly, and the site supervision fee is paid to Sue-Virginia Mackay directly by the client. I will personally select the appliances, fittings or plants with the client.
